Donald Trump easily defeats Haley in Her Home State South Carolina
Former President Donald Trump went further ahead and was nominated as the Republican Presidential nominee after he defeated Nikki Haley in South Carolina.
The victory in Haley’s home state is a major blow to Trump’s rival candidate and further solidifies his base for upcoming presidential elections in November.
Trump Garnered 60% Votes
After the vote casting session ended at 7 pm ET, Trump emerged far ahead of Haley as he garnered 60% of the votes compared to 40% of Haley’s.
Trump has successfully become the first non-incumbent candidate to claim victories in the first four state-level primary races, i.e. Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and now South Carolina.
Haley Vows To Continue
After the defeat, Haley insisted that she wouldn’t back down from the race despite losing in her home state.
“No matter what happens in South Carolina, I will continue to run for president. I’m a woman of my word,” Haley said while addressing her supporters in Charleston.
